We're here!

We arrived in Shillong yesterday about 1 pm (Indian time, that is. To figure out EST, just subtract 9 1/2 hours). The weather is so much cooler here, and it is really nice! It is SO good to be back in Shillong!

I met my translator yesterday, and she and her family are staying in the same apartment with us.I will leave with them to go to Tamil Nadu, where I will be teaching ladies classes in the villages (mostly basic for non-believers and the woman's role) , and then in a girl's school for two weeks, teaching James the first week, and 1 Peter the second.

While I am here, I will also be wearing traditional Indian dress- the sari (or saree, if you prefer). Apparently, they are worn only by women over 20, because they are traditionally considered an older woman's dress. I will wear it to maintain a good rapport with the Indians. Showing them respect by adapting to their culture will, in return, lend me credibility with them. They say though, that the first two days it is hard to wear because you are thinking it will fall off. After that, it is ok.When I get some pictures, I will post them.

I do not know how much access I will have to a computer when I am working in the villages and at the girl's school, but I will try to keep up with this the best I can!
